Message	Your cheapie soldering gun is great for this application. Put the gun on the bottom of the wires you are splicing, and touch the solder to the top of the wires. Gravity will pull the liquid solder into and around the wires. Also, best if you get really fine solder, as it melts in easier/ faster. Don't apply more heat or more solder than you need. If done correctly, dont need any flux.
